Cubs royal blue, icy sky — the Midsummer Classic comes home to Wrigley. The crown is a deep, saturated royal blue from panel to brim, with a matching royal blue top button — clean and unbroken until your eye hits the under visor, which flips to a crisp sky blue that stops you cold. Up front, the Cubs' beloved alternate bear-face logo sits inside a bold red circle: the cartoon bear rendered entirely in icy sky blue, staring you down the same way it did on Waveland Avenue in 1990. On the left side, the event patch tells the whole story — arched red "CHICAGO" text over the Cubs' C-logo, the year split gold on either side ("19 90"), a crown of gold stars on light blue candles, and a scroll banner at the base reading "All-Star Game" in black outline with the MLB batterman anchoring it below. The back carries that same MLB logo, stitched in sky blue and red against the royal field — every element of this hat is working in that same royal-and-icy two-tone system.

July 10, 1990. Wrigley Field hosts the MLB All-Star Game for the first time in over four decades, 39,071 fans packed into the ivy-draped cathedral on the North Side. The American League wins it 2–0 in what becomes one of the most pitcher-dominated Midsummer Classics in history — the NL manages just two hits, the fewest ever recorded by any team in All-Star play. Julio Franco takes home MVP honors. It's a strange, rainy, beautiful night on Clark and Addison, the kind of thing Cubs fans remember not because it went their way, but because it happened at Wrigley at all. This hat is the artifact from that night — not a throwback, not a reissue, but an actual commemorative piece from that era, carrying the patch that was stitched onto caps the season Wrigley finally stepped into the All-Star spotlight. The royal and icy colorway keeps it collector-serious without veering into costume territory. It reads as a grail to anyone who knows what they're looking at.

How to Wear It

The Streetwear Edit
The royal blue and sky blue icy palette locks in perfectly with Jordan Brand's royal colorways — reach for a Jordan 1 Retro High Royal Toe or a pair of Air Force 1s in university blue. Build the rest of the fit clean and minimal: a heavyweight white tee, relaxed-fit dark indigo jeans, and a royal blue bomber or coaches jacket left open. Let the hat do the talking. The icy under brim is going to catch light every time you turn your head — don't compete with it, just frame it.

Her Way
Style this against a wide-leg chalk-white trouser and a fitted sky blue cropped knit — the icy under brim pulls the whole palette together without forcing it. White New Balance 550s or clean Air Force 1 Lows ground the look. For cooler weather, layer a vintage varsity or a light denim jacket with the collar up. The bear-face logo and the All-Star patch are statement enough — keep the jewelry minimal, maybe a thin gold chain that echoes the gold stars on the side patch, and let the hat anchor everything above the shoulders.

The Archives
This one deserves a fit that doesn't compete. Raw selvedge denim in a mid-wash rinse, a plain white or off-white heavyweight tee, and a clean pair of white leather sneakers — New Balance 990v3 in grey or a simple white AF1 Low. No graphics, no logos, nothing fighting for attention. The 1990 All-Star patch is the focal point and the story. When someone asks about it, you can tell them about the gold stars, about Wrigley hosting the Midsummer Classic, about the two-hit shutout on a rainy Tuesday night in Chicago. That's the whole fit.
