Pittsburgh Pirates, All-Star red — the Allegheny River summer in a hat. Red woolblend crown sits on a black structured brim, with a kelly green under visor that flashes every time you tilt the bill. The front panel carries the Pirates' 1997–2013 primary logo — the front-facing buccaneer in full detail, red and black bandana, gold earring, crossed bats underneath — embroidered cleanly on a clean red field. On the left side, the 2006 All-Star Game patch tells the whole story: Pittsburgh's skyline stitched in multicolor thread above crossed bats, the "PIRATES" wordmark in the center, and "ALL-STAR GAME" bold across the bottom in gold. Red top button. The MLB batter logo rides the back panel in a two-tone red and gold colorway that matches everything else perfectly.

Pittsburgh hosted the Midsummer Classic on July 11, 2006 — the first All-Star Game ever played at PNC Park, and the fifth time the Pirates franchise had hosted in three different ballparks. That's a record. The home run derby sent balls into the Allegheny River behind right field. Michael Young took MVP honors with a two-run triple in the ninth that sealed it for the AL. None of that is on the hat — it doesn't need to be. The patch says enough. This is a snapshot of a specific night in one of baseball's most beautiful parks, worn on the head of someone who was there, or who wishes they had been. That red-black-kelly-green color stack is one of those combinations that only works because it's real: it's not a designer's choice, it's a moment in time.

How to Wear It

The Streetwear Edit
The red-and-black crown is made for Jordan colorways — go straight to the Air Jordan 1 "Chicago" or "Bred Toe" and let the hat mirror the shoe. Build the rest clean: black wide-leg cargo pants, a heavyweight black crewneck or an oversized white tee tucked slightly, and a black bomber if it's cool. The kelly green under visor becomes your secret pop of color when you tilt the bill. Don't overthink it — the hat is the loudest thing in the fit, and it earns that right.

Her Way
High-waisted wide-leg black trousers, a fitted red cropped knit, and a pair of black and white Air Force 1s. Wear the hat straight — no curve in the brim, clean fit. The kelly green under visor reads as an intentional accent when the brim catches the light. Add a black mini shoulder bag and keep the jewelry minimal: small gold hoops only, letting the hat's gold embroidery do the talking. This is a fit that knows exactly what it's doing.

The Archives
This hat is a grail piece — treat it like one. Build the outfit to disappear so the hat stands alone. Raw dark indigo selvedge denim, a vintage grey Pittsburgh Pirates tee (tucked, slightly worn), and clean black leather New Balance 990s or a white-sole Samba. No graphics fighting the patch, no loud colors competing with that kelly green flash. The 2006 All-Star patch is the story; everything else is the frame. Wear it like you found it in a box at a stadium memorabilia shop and knew immediately what you had.
