Seattle Mariners in all black — with a secret that only reveals itself when you tilt the brim. The crown and visor are a deep charcoal-black wool, clean and understated until you get close enough to see what's happening. Front and center: the Mariners' iconic compass rose logo — the nautical rose sitting on a baseball, "SEATTLE" arcing above and "MARINERS" below, rendered in silver, white, and red on a black circular field with a red outer ring. It's a commanding emblem. On the left panel, the 30th Anniversary side patch — a dense, finely embroidered piece showing the Seattle skyline with the Space Needle rising in red and silver, flanked by "1977" and "2007" and "30th ANNIVERSARY" in an arch above, "MARINERS" on a banner below. Out back, the classic MLB batterman logo in black, white, and red keeps the look on-brand. And underneath? A deep cherry red under brim that flashes every time you catch the light at the right angle — the only pop of warmth in an otherwise blacked-out build.

The Mariners came into existence in 1977 as an expansion team, playing their first game to a sold-out Kingdome crowd and spending the next three decades building something real in the Pacific Northwest. The 30th Anniversary patch — issued for the 2007 season — captures that journey in embroidery: the Space Needle, the skyline, those dates. This black colorway is a different animal from the other 30th Anniversary version in the lineup. No bright team colors. No contrast brim. Just ink-black wool, an understated compass on the front, and a patch that rewards the people who actually look. It's the kind of hat that doesn't need to announce itself. The collectors who know, know.

How to Wear It

The Streetwear Edit
Black-on-black anchor this around the hat. Jordan 4 Bred Reimagineds or a pair of Nike Air Max 90 Triple Blacks on foot, black heavyweight joggers from Fear of God Essentials, and a faded oversized graphic tee — something vintage or washed, not crisp. The red under brim gives you just enough permission to bring in a subtle red detail: a hoodie tied at the waist, a lanyard, a thin stripe on a sock. Let the patch do the talking.

Her Way
Wide-leg black cargo trousers cropped just above the ankle, a fitted long-sleeve white rib tee, and clean white New Balance 550s — so the red under brim becomes the only warm note in the whole fit. Layer a slouchy black overshirt unbuttoned. Wear the hat low, tilted just enough to show the brim's red flash. The patch earns its place as a genuine conversation piece, not a gimmick.

The Archives
This is a piece you wear as the centerpiece, not the afterthought. Keep everything around it quiet: raw selvedge denim, a clean slate grey crewneck or a worn-in black flannel, and white or black leather sneakers with no loud branding — a pair of adidas Stan Smiths or Nike Killshots. Nothing fights the patch. The 1977–2007 timeline on the side panel carries decades of Pacific Northwest baseball in a two-inch embroidered crest. Let it breathe.
