Seattle Mariners olive and wheat — a colorway that hits differently. The rifle green crown sits deep and structured, a shade that reads more military surplus than ballpark, while the wheat/peanut brim flips the script on the standard navy-and-teal M's palette. The under visor is a clean stone, barely visible until the brim tips up. Up front, the Mariners' compass rose logo — the one they've been running since 1993 — is embroidered in full detail: navy circle, white lettering, with a red and silver nautical star at its center. The whole front panel is framed with a gold border that ties the wheat brim back to the crown seamlessly. On the back left panel, the MLB Batterman patch sits flat in royal blue, red, and gold — the same colorway across the hat's warmer tones.
But the reason collectors are drawn to this one is the left-side patch. Up close, it's a full scene: the Seattle skyline silhouetted in black against a burnt orange and gold sunset, with the Space Needle rising unmistakably on the left. Dead center, a large bold 40 in yellow, a miniature compass rose nestled inside the zero. "1977–2017" arches above it in metallic silver embroidery, and "ANNIVERSARY" runs in bold orange along the bottom, the whole frame finished with a bronze-toned border. The Mariners never won a World Series — they never even made it there — but 40 years in Seattle is its own kind of milestone, and this hat captures that with more soul than a championship patch ever could. It's a hat for fans who've been there through all of it, or collectors who respect that kind of loyalty.
How to Wear It
The Streetwear Edit
The olive-wheat split is a gift for earth-tone builds. Run it with a washed black heavyweight tee, olive cargo pants with side zip pockets, and New Balance 1906D in "Protection Pack" olive or the Joe Freshgoods 992 in brown sugar — both echo the wheat brim without matching too hard. Finish with a canvas military overshirt worn open. The hat carries the whole fit.
Her Way
Vintage flared jeans in a medium wash, a cropped white baby tee, and white Nike Air Force 1s — the simplicity lets the colorway land. Add a wheat-toned woven tote or a small crossbody in cognac leather and the patch becomes the focal point. This colorway is understated enough to go anywhere without reading "sports fan," while still repping something real.
The Archives
A hat with a 40th anniversary patch deserves room to breathe. Keep the surrounding outfit minimal: a faded black crewneck, dark slim-cut raw denim, and clean white or bone-colored sneakers — New Balance 550s in cream or Jordan 1 Low OG "Neutral Grey" both work. Let the wheat brim and the olive crown do the talking. The patch is the centerpiece; the rest of the fit is the frame.
