Seattle Mariners 40th Anniversary — mocha brown meets dusty teal, with a pink under brim that catches you off guard. The crown is a deep walnut brown wool, the visor a muted slate teal, and flipping it up reveals a soft pink lining that ties the whole colorway together. Up front, the throwback "S" logo from the team's 1987–1992 era is embroidered in gold with a pink shadow outline — heavy stitch, substantial presence. On the left panel, a square anniversary patch reads "40th Anniversary 1977–2017" with a compass rose at center and the Seattle skyline silhouetted behind it in brown and pink tones with gold border stitching. On the back, the MLB batterman logo is rendered in pink and gold against the brown wool. The top button is brown. Every element is dialed in.

The Mariners were born from a lawsuit — Seattle lost the Pilots in 1970 and sued the American League for it, eventually winning a new expansion franchise that took the field in 1977. That "S" logo the team wore from 1987 to 1992 has become a cult favorite among collectors: pre-Griffey-era, pre-compass rose, just a clean letterform on a good-looking cap. This 40th anniversary release pairs that throwback logo with a colorway that feels like it was pulled from a dig at a flea market — earthy and unexpected. The pink under brim is the move that separates the heads who flip fitteds over from those who don't. If you know, you know.

How to Wear It

The Streetwear Edit
The brown and teal palette begs for earth tones. Build around it: vintage-wash cargo pants in olive or sand, a heavyweight oversized cream tee, and New Balance 1906D in brown/teal or 990v6 in walnut. Layer a washed zip fleece in mocha over the top for fall. The pink under brim peeks out just enough when you tilt the brim — that's the detail that makes the fit. Keep the rest minimal so the hat stays the conversation.

Her Way
Wide-leg caramel trousers with a cream ribbed tank tucked in, a slim brown leather belt, and chunky New Balance 574 in cream or tan. Let the teal visor read against the warmer tones. Add a structured brown mini bag and keep jewelry gold — it echoes the logo. Alternatively: vintage Levi's 501s in a medium wash, a cropped brown moto jacket, and the hat centered and flat-brimmed for a sharper look. The pink lining flashing on the under brim plays well against denim.

The Archives
This is a grail piece and it deserves to be treated like one. Pair it with raw selvedge denim in indigo — worn and faded at the knees — a plain white heavyweight tee, and vintage Nike Air Max 1 in Wheat or a clean brown suede Jordan 1 Low. No graphics, no logos competing. The hat tells the whole story: the throwback "S," the 40-year patch, the colorway that shouldn't work but absolutely does. Let collectors come to you.
